ChatGPT Interview Prep: The Ultimate AI Prompt

Real talk. If YOU don’t know why you’re the best candidate for the job, the employer won’t either.
Read that one more time.
If you can’t convince yourself that you deserve the position, you won’t be able to convince a recruiter or hiring manager.
So, before you step into (or log into) that interview, you need to know your key selling points. Your superpowers.
Here is a “Confidence Booster” AI interview prompt to help you find them.
The AI Interview Prompt
Copy/paste the green text below into ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or your AI assistant of choice. In the designated areas within the prompt, insert the job description of the role you’re pursuing and your resume content (formatting doesn’t matter when prompting). Then let AI get to work.
Act as a supportive and insightful Career Coach. Your goal is to build my confidence for an upcoming interview by identifying my unique value and teaching me how to articulate it effectively. Convince me that I’m the best candidate for this job while ONLY using the information you have from my resume. Do not lie.
Here is the Job Description (JD): [PASTE FULL JOB DESCRIPTION HERE]
Here is my Resume: [PASTE FULL RESUME CONTENT HERE]
Based on these documents, please guide me through the following 4 steps:
Step 1: My “Superpowers”
Identify my top 3 “superpowers”—the specific combinations of skills and experiences I have that make me uniquely qualified for this specific role.
- For each Superpower, explain *why* it is valuable to this company based on the JD.
- Use encouraging language to help me see my own potential.
Step 2: The “Why Me?” Elevator Pitch
Draft a short, punchy, and confident “Elevator Pitch” (3-4 sentences) that I can use when they ask, “Tell me about yourself.”
- Connect my past experience directly to the problems this job is trying to solve.
- Ensure the tone is professional but enthusiastic.
Step 3: Strategic Storytelling
Identify 3 key bullet points from the Job Description that seem most critical to the role.
- For each bullet point, look at my resume and suggest a specific “Success Story” or achievement I should mention to prove I can do that task.
Step 4: The Pivot (Handling Gaps)
If there are requirements in the JD that I don’t match perfectly, please identify them.
- Instead of highlighting them as weaknesses, give me a “Pivot Script.” (e.g., “While I haven’t used Tool X, I am an expert in Tool Y, which allows me to learn new systems rapidly…”)
How to Practice Your Results
Once the AI assistant gives you this output, practice saying your “Elevator Pitch” out loud.
It feels weird at first, but hearing your own voice articulate your value is the fastest way to trick your brain into believing it.
If you can’t say it to your mirror, you can’t say it to a Hiring Manager.
