I’ve been working with Jillian and her team for years. Jillian never ceases to amaze me with what she gathers from our conversations and can turn into true actionable things for my resume. I honestly cannot recommend Jillian and Red Pen Wench highly enough.

Before working with her, I knew I had strong experience, but my resume and LinkedIn just were not telling the story effectively. As soon as I started using the materials Jillian created and updated my LinkedIn to align with them, the difference was immediate and honestly kind of shocking.

The response rate I started receiving completely changed. I began getting recruiter outreach consistently, and for cold applications where I had no previous connection to the organization - I was getting some type of interest or response on well over 50% of the jobs I applied for.

And to put that into perspective, the average response rate for most job seekers right now is often somewhere in the low single digits. So the difference was massive.

Job hunting in an era where you have to worry about AI and ATS (when the last time you applied for jobs the thing you needed to be worried about was the thickness of your resume printer paper), the Jobseekers Treasure Chest  got me up to speed on what modern job hunting is, what to focus on and where and how to go looking and stay organized. I worked with Dana and Linda on my cover letter and resume.  They were easy to work with and very insightful.  They have a really good grasp on how to represent what you are looking for in your resume and cover letter.  The conversations were added value because they provided a different perspective on how to evaluate yourself and your skills.  The interview coaching was also empowering.  The process really prepares and enhances your key talking points by giving a better view of what to expect through an interview process.  The added tips on how to approach a zoom vs in person interview were also beneficial.  I appreciate their attention to detail and the responsiveness. I have only amazing things to say about my experience working with Jillian. I have worked with her countless (30+) times over the years. Her expertise in writing is very versatile, as she has helped me with brainstorming, editing, and writing essays for a wide variety of applications. Most recently we have worked together on my primary and secondary essays for applying to Medical School. Jillian is an academic life saver! She’s helped me with resumes, applications, and any type of writing assignment I was stuck on. I typically stress and struggle with writing because I have a lot of trouble organizing my ideas and staying on track, and as a result often lose motivation. Jillian is like an antidote for my disorganized thoughts. She helps me figure out what I want to say and how I want to say it in a way that feels almost effortless and even fun! I find myself finishing assignments that used to take me weeks to complete in just 2-3 sessions with Jillian. Jillian’s communication was perfect during the process, and Dena’s work on my resume, cover letter, and LinkedIn was wonderful. She really listened to what I was looking for and my concerns about whether some things were better or worse to have on a resume and LinkedIn, and was also flexible on time and communication. Dena did the research to get the correct industry terminology and standard things people in it tend to highlight. This was a very collaborative process, but still done quickly and efficiently.

This was my first experience paying for resume, cover letter, and LinkedIn update, so was a little worried at first if it would be worth it. But it definitely was.

It's been about a year and a half since I last worked with Jillian and wrote my previous review, below. I've learned more about the industry I'm in now and wanted to update my resume and cover letter. Jillian worked with me to meet a fast-approaching deadline, and despite the speed, her quality of work was EXCEPTIONAL, as usual. I sent her about 5 pages of random blurbs about things I wanted to add. She somehow made sense all my random blurbs, prioritized the most important points, edited out the things that weren't relevant, and avoided any repetition or redundancy. Then, she put it all together in the most eloquent way, replacing any old resume bullets or cover letter paragraphs that were no longer important. She combined the best, most important/relevant parts of my old material with the new information seamlessly for a complete resume and cover letter makeover. I couldn't be happier. Jillian is a miracle worker. I hired her, per a recommendation, to do my resume, cover letter, and LinkedIn for 2 entirely separate careers. My resume "intake form" must have been about 7-10 pages long- a random stream of consciousness... everything from my previous work experience, what I thought my new career would like, stuff that mattered, stuff that didn't... Jillian combed through all that mess, plucked out the most relevant strengths and formulated the most beautifully articulate sentences out of them. It is as if she could read my messy mind and spit it out as a masterpiece! She is extremely bright, detail-oriented, articulate, and experienced. When I asked her opinion, she gave me thoughtful answers that were spot on- she's an expert, yet gentle and supportive in her suggestions.
